Richard Harpin Provides Best Example of Leadership

Richard Harpin is a billionaire who could be doing a lot of things - but he made a conscious choice to use his good fortune to focus on lifting others.

I love his latest post about welcoming total strangers into his home, to sit around his dining room table taking part in his Business Leader Growth Workshop.

Here is proof that sometimes it's the most simple things that generate the greatest impact.

Here is proof that sometimes it's the most simple things that generate the greatest impact.

And proof of what I'm always talking about - how investing in our connection is the most powerful tool we have for guaranteeing success - in business and all aspects of life.

Richard could have done this in many other ways. He could have done it in a fancy office with a huge fancy conference room and great view of the city, which I'm sure he has access to.

He could have done it at a fancy venue with catering and other amenities.

But instead, to have the greatest impact, he chose to invite entrepreneurs into his home.

And when you invite people into your home, that requires opening your heart to receive them and make them feel welcome.

All this may sound 'nice to have' - but the 'opening your heart' part is actually the most important skill we'll need for the new era.

We call it many different things such as servant leadership and the ability to listen to others, but the underlying "skill" of all these new terms is really about learning to open our hearts.

And there is actually a method for that - for accelerating our ability to open our hearts and enhance our connection with total strangers.

The sooner we learn to break down all the walls between us, the sooner we can kickstart a better way of getting things done together.

As I wrote to Richard Harpin in a private message, I'd be happy to send him a book about that from Israel. I also sent him the PDF and would be happy to send it to anyone who asks for it.

Here is an excerpt from his post -

When I first started holding these workshops, people were surprised that I invited them to my home. I got a lot of funny looks!

“Richard, are you sure you want to invite people to your house?”

But so far, I have found that it has been the best place to foster meaningful conversations where people feel connected and inspired.

It’s shown me that mixing business with a bit of pleasure can work wonders—and that strangers can become valued connections.
