Rhea Chakraborty's Arrest Should Bother Every Civilized Mind

Human beings are probably the greatest creation of God Almighty, and that's not only about our positive attributes. The darker side of human behavior is something that never fails to fascinate the keen observer. In fact, human beings can make the darkest of fictional characters look like priests.

If anything, the outbreak of Coronavirus has only unleashed the darker side of human beings, burning all hopes that one could possibly have from a ‘democratic’ society. And among all the darkness, the darkest corner, which ironically became the centerpiece of prime time debate was the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput, a phenomenal actor, whose girlfriend is being socially lynched by the vultures and other scavengers of the civilized society.

At a time when the pandemic has killed several hundreds of thousands of people across the globe, and when the country's GDP is worst among the lowest in decades, the vultures, aka news anchors are lynching the life of a woman, who lost her beloved. And the worst part is that almost the entire country is against her. Ever since the news of Sushant’s passing away broke out, it has been the only headline that seems to matter to the TV consumers, and propaganda is in full flow.

Here’s my opinion on the whole fiasco, though I am pretty sure it doesn’t count or matter.

Sushant or Rhea is Not Important for Us

Yes, that’s what I feel! In a country where thousands of young individuals commit suicide every year for some of the most heartbreaking reasons, you will ever come across, the death of a Bollywood celebrity, who has made hundreds of millions shouldn’t matter at all. Do you think he was harassed? Do you think he was depressed? Let’s see a few stats, shall we?

Farmer Suicides in India:

After almost a three-year delay, the Central Government released the data of farmer suicide in November 2019. And if you’re human enough, you must cry, or at least promise yourself to never watch prime time circus on television.

In 2016 alone, more than 11,300 farmers committed suicide. More than eleven freaking thousand! And no hashtags, no campaigns, no debates, nothing. Do you ever think who is more important to this country? A Bollywood actor with crores of rupees, or a farmer who breaks himself to produce the food you eat? Who is more likely to suffer depression? An actor who’s following his passion and living the dream life, or a farmer who has no choice but to stand in the sun, wind, and rain to make ends meet?

Likewise, about 11,370 farmers killed themselves in 2018, 12,360 in 2014, and 12,602 in 2015. In Maharashtra alone,15,300+ farmers committed suicide between 2013-2018. Overall, more than 3,33,000 farmers took the decision to end their lives since 1995, and yet, we mourn and behave like anarchists on the death of a Bollywood star!

Student Suicides in India:

Students are the future of this country, and whether you're from NSUI or ABVP, this must definitely be alarming for you. Every day, about 28 students end their lives, and I am sure it is not a game. According to the data by NCRB, about 10,150+ students committed suicide in 2018, up from 9,900+ in 2017 and 9,400+ in 2016.

Between 2014-2018, more than 46,550 students took away their lives, and I am sure they were going through depression too! But did you hear any debate on this? Did you see hungry vultures chasing officials for bytes on this issue? Did you ever witness a journo sensationalize the death of a student?

And it’s not that elite institutes or centers are immune to this. Between 2014-2019, 27 students committed suicide in the 10 IIT campuses. Then there’s Kota, the premier destination for entrance exams preparations. 19 students in Kota chose to fade away in 2018 alone, while the official data of 2019 isn’t out yet. Kota is often regarded as the epicenter of sex, drugs, and depression, and no Manikarnika is ready to talk about it.

Just imagine the pressure students face, day after day, to be the best in the world. The sheer burden of meeting these expectations and the fear of failure is big enough for them to end their lives. And you thought, Sushant Singh Rajput was going through depression!

Media is Playing the Propaganda Tool

Now you may ask, Sushant’s death isn’t a big issue, why is the media hyping it so much? You already know the answer deep down! It’s all propaganda. This is much like George Orwell’s magnum opus, 1984. Big Brothers of our times are using it to divert your attention from chronic issues plaguing our country. They are programming your mind to focus on trivial matters so that they can colonize your land without you realizing it.

Here’s my argument.

Criticism of Mumbai Police is Selective:

One of the biggest villains of the whole Sushant-Rhea fiasco seems to be the Mumbai Police Department. While I generally despise the police for their brutalities over the years, I strongly feel that what the media is doing at the moment is not free from bias. Let me give you an example which shall show that I would never support the Mumbai Police.

In February 2017, my grandfather, Haji Bashir Ahmed Shaikh was on his way home after the night prayers from a Masjid in Antop Hill. Unfortunately, at the same time, the police were chasing a drug peddler in the area. A young police officer dashed into my grandfather, and stamped on his hip, crushing his hip bone to pieces.

When people tried to stop them, he abused them and my grandfather and ran away. We took my grandpa to Sion Hospital, where the police sent their informants to check what we were doing. When I dared to question the actions of the police officer, the pimp threatened me and my family of ‘police action’. The incident was also reported in the Times of India.

Haji Bashir Ahmed Shaikh, at 80 years of age, succumbed to his injuries and left this world in March.

I hope you now understand that I have no sympathy for the Mumbai Police. And this is not the only reason. There are thousands of such crimes, some of which I have personally witnessed, but fear to talk about openly.

Where were the saviors of humanity before Sushant’s death? Isn’t this selective outrage against the Mumbai Police? The cops are the target simply because the BJP doesn't rule Maharashtra, and Shiv Sena is not their ally anymore.

Hunting of Rhea Chakraborty is Inhumane:

Imagine. You, your sister, your mother, or your spouse are being hounded by the media everywhere. Your women are being literally gagged by hundreds of cameras and thousands of offending questions. Your family is in trauma for crimes that have not yet been charged. And the entire country is cursing you!

This is what’s happening with Rhea Chakraborty. I don’t know whether she is guilty of pushing Sushant to the limit of suicide or not, but I wouldn?t be surprised if she herself decides to end her life. And I also wouldn’t be surprised if some lunatic frustrated unemployed individual tries to kill her or throw acid on her. That’s the point of indignity we have come to!

From Mumbai Police to the CBI and now to the NCB - a young woman has to answer to all of these agencies, who themselves have serious corruption within, answering questions which apparently she has no clue about.

Here’s an example. All the vultures alleged that Rhea siphoned Rs.15 crores that belonged to Sushant, publicly accusing her of money laundering. People all over the internet abused her and accused her of this. Right-wing IT Cell ran a huge campaign against the alleged money laundering. However, this was far from the truth. This was just a myth for which, sadly, Sushant’s family fell. See this Twitter video:

The Myth of Rs.15cr Busted

Likewise, most of the accusations during the media-trial by the vultures were untrue, and the CBI or the ED couldn't find any financial irregularities. Finally, the NCB Gets Her!

What the Media is Hiding

The media have nothing to do with Sushant Singh Rajput or Rhea Chakraborty. All they are doing is hiding the actual issues facing the country. First of all, the vultures are hiding the government’s failure in controlling the pandemic. While we discuss the life of a dead actor and his girlfriend, India is slowly becoming the worst-hit country in the world.

Secondly, the economy is in tatters, and that’s the most important thing we all must be worried about. There’s no debate on that! Members of the Elgar Parishad, the likes of Dr. Anand Teltumbde, Sudha Bharadwaj, Varavara Rao, Gautam Navlakha, and Vernon Gonsalves - all anti-caste activists, have been arrested, and are in jail on some of the most bizarre charges.

In fact, while the nation was busy burning the life of Rhea after her arrest by NCB, three more activists, including singers and sons-in-law of the poet Varavara Rao, have been arrested. Besides, during the entire Sushant-Rhea fiasco, several minor girls were raped and gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere. All of their voices were silenced under the havoc the vultures are carrying out against Rhea. Understand the pattern! The Matrix is playing with your mind. The Ministry of Truth is demolishing your conscience.

Example of a Fake, Toxic Media Trial

What the Ideal Turn of Events Should Have Been

“After a preliminary investigation, it was found that Sushant Singh Rajput was suffering from depression at least for the last five years. Leading psychiatrists in Mumbai were treating him, but unfortunately, the man couldn't cope up. Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant’s girlfriend has started a campaign to promote awareness regarding mental health issues. The entire industry has come forward in support of Sushant’s family, while he has also received a posthumous Sahitya Akademi Award, and the FTII has named a chair in his honor.

“Media has demanded that there should be a thorough mental check-up of all newcomers in the industry, asking for transparency in contracts, better working conditions, and scrutiny of drugs. Discharging its duty, the fourth pillar of our democracy has compelled the government to focus on mental health, and the State Government has promised to establish mental health care centers across the state. The Central Government has passed a law, making mental health recovery leaves binding on each corporate organization.

“Public awareness programs were conducted across the country, through which thousands of students, farmers, and young entrants of the entertainment industry were benefited. It is sad that we have lost such a talented young actor like Sushant Singh Rajput, but his death has not gone in vain! It has created a much-needed revolution, and mental health problems will no longer be a social stigma.”
