RG Rom Gummi Expands Again: Acquires Another Norwegian Rubber Manufacturer

Expanding through acquisitions has become a well-established strategy for the West Jutland-based manufacturer of technical rubber, plastic, and foam solutions, RG Rom Gummi. For the second time this year, the company has made an acquisition in Norway. This is their third purchase in two years, further highlighting the company's ambitious growth plans and expanding its market position in Scandinavia.

As of November 4, 2024, RG Rom Gummi has acquired the Norwegian rubber manufacturer Rubberstyle AS.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Rubberstyle is Norway's oldest and one of Europe’s longest-standing rubber manufacturers of its kind. Based in Stavanger, the company has specialized in rubber molding for various industries, including offshore and water sectors, since its inception.

According to Jesper Berg Kristensen, CEO of RG Rom Gummi, the merger of the two companies will create unique synergies, as their complementary competencies will strengthen each other well.

- Rubberstyle is a unique rubber producer that we've collaborated with over the years. I am excited that we can now work even more closely and establish a stronger presence in the Norwegian market. Rubberstyle has built an impressive and exciting customer portfolio in Norway, which we look forward to joining, says Jesper Berg Kristensen.

He also emphasizes RG Rom Gummi’s respect for Rubberstyle’s current operations, which is why they will retain the company’s name, management, production, and administration in Stavanger.

Morten S?dberg, CEO of Rubberstyle, views the acquisition as a significant opportunity for the Norwegian company. He points out how RG Rom Gummi’s production facilities in Denmark can open doors to new business areas and strengthen Rubberstyle’s market position in Norway.

A Unique Synergy Few Can Match

Both companies work in rubber molding, yet their competencies differ considerably. Rubberstyle has a unique capability not only distinct from RG Rom Gummi but also from most other rubber manufacturers, as they have an in-house rubber mixing department to create rubber compounds for molding.

- Rubberstyle’s rubber mixing department is quite unique for manufacturers like us. Having the machinery and facilities to create our own compounds is one thing, but the knowledge Rubberstyle has built in this area is invaluable. I am sure it will greatly benefit us at RG Rom Gummi, especially considering the extensive rubber molding solutions we produce, says Jesper Berg Kristensen.

Conversely, RG Rom Gummi possesses a unique capability that distinguishes them from Rubberstyle and most other rubber manufacturers. The West Jutland company has invested in a large in-house machine workshop and CNC department, enabling them to produce molds and tools for rubber molding.

- As a producer of molded rubber solutions, molds are crucial to the quality and final result of the molded rubber solution. Access to RG Rom Gummi’s machine workshop will allow us to produce and modify molds for our rubber molding department faster and more affordably, explains Morten S?dberg, CEO at Rubberstyle.

A Strong Position in the Norwegian Market

The Norwegian market has always been a focus for RG Rom Gummi, and the company has successfully established a foothold there, including the acquisition of another Norwegian rubber producer, Rub-Tech, earlier this year. The combination of these two Norwegian companies creates a strong and versatile production unit for rubber solutions, according to Jesper Berg Kristensen.

- The combination of Rub-Tech and Rubberstyle gives us a robust production unit for the Norwegian market. Each company possesses different production capabilities, targeting different customers. Rub-Tech excels in hot vulcanization of rubber—coating rubber on components in aluminum, metal, or steel. Rubberstyle specializes in rubber molding, and together, we stand strong with a wide range of rubber solutions for various industries, concludes Jesper Berg Kristensen.
