RFP PART IV Hidden Costs
Do you know your cost if you have the wrong lawncare services program? Or the lawncare services you are receiving are not working?
Most RFP’s or SOW typically just mention the lawncare program or provide a minimal description of services. (See previous posts RFP I-III) These services are often overlooked for detail, specific scope changes needed due to market variations, grass types, etc. Also, any year over year required revisions are usually missed i.e., regulations changes, new targeted weeds, insects, planned overseeding, chemical price increase etc. ?All these factors if not considered can have a negative impact on your results, expense management and overall customer experience. If you have multiple locations across your portfolio all with different interpretations of your current RFP or SOW?these challenges may be even harder to manage.
How do you know if you currently do or do not have the correct program or whether it is being delivered properly or not? This may be a very expensive gamble.
Having the incorrect program can cost you. Can you afford poor curb appeal, leading to poor reviews and branding? Can you afford to have the customers/residents that read these reviews to not visit your property? Can you afford unplanned expenses to repair damage, or the need to rebid the service mid-season? Can you afford multiple variations of programs and inconsistent results within the same market? These are only a few of the hidden costs (I am sure you have experienced others) and these expenses typically show up later.
Having the correct lawncare program in place can in fact have the biggest positive impact to your property’s health, “first impression”, curb appeal, expense management and overall operational excellence. Keep in mind, delivered properly by trained technicians, the correct program can reduce or eliminate costly turf repairs or replacement and can reduce safety and risk factors.
