RFID in automotive industry
RFID (Radio frequency identification technology) can be widely used in the production and manufacturing of automobile products, sales and circulation links, maintenance and recovery and other after-sales links. RFID technology can improve the visibility and accuracy of information in automobile supply chain, and greatly improve the production efficiency and customer service level.
Keep tracking more than 20,000 RFID packagings
There is no need to manually capture all returnable plastic packagings by deployed RFID solution during the in and out process. As a result, the rotation period of KLTs is greatly increased.
Before RFID deployment, KLT can go up to three or four cycles at most by the end of their service life. Therefore, the frequency to obtain new KLTs is very high. Since all KLTs tagged by RFID, the number of loops increases by a factor of five to ten times.
Identify RFID plate number
RFID data capture can also be done in open parking lots. In these parking lots, vehicles will be driven after finishing the work. Some parking spaces are equipped with RFID tags. During parking, drivers read the RFID UHF tags located in the parking space and the bumper RFID UHF tags and use a RFID handheld reader to capture the vehicles’ location.
RFID helps to enhance the transparency that improved the vehicle management process, productivity significantly increased. The time of manual scanning is saved, because the driver does not have to climb out of the car every time to scan a bar code or fill out a form. When parking spaces are used more efficiently, time and effort can be reduced, thereby reducing the number of cases of financial loss and damage.
Identify the vehicle on the workstation
Once assembled, each car carries an RFID tag on the inside of its front bumper for identification. On the production line, the vehicle identification number (VIN) and another ID number used at the assembly station are written to the RFID tag. For vehicle identification purposes, about 50 stationary readers are installed along the assembly line as well as gates and passages to and from storage areas. Workers are also equipped with a RFID handheld device as a backup.
Visibility of each finishing and control station
When passing the RFID reader, the RFID tag ID number is captured and transmitted to the back-end system. The software runs on any RFID reader, filters out unnecessary data or false positive, passes relevant information to the middleware, and then transfers the data to the back-end system.
