QLASH StarCraft 2 superstar Riccardo ‘'Reynor’' Romiti is often referred to in the community as ‘'the Italian Stallion’'. While for many players such a nickname would probably be an exaggeration, the 18 year old prodigy is definitely living up to all the hype surrounding him.
Playing some truly amazing StarCraft 2, Reynor managed to secure the DreamHack Masters Fall EU trophy, defeating the French Terran Clément ‘'Clem’' Desplanches who is playing for Team Liquid in the Grand Final. His accomplishment is even more impressive considering he was able to overcome Joona ‘’Serral’’ Sotala in two separate Bo5 matches in the process. Beating Serral is not a simple task, as the Finnish Zerg has been dominating the StarCraft 2 scene for the past 3 years, even managing to disrupt the Korean monopoly on this highly competitive esports title.
It’s evident that Reynor was not only preparing for the tournament but had the mental stamina to play his A game for the full duration of the event. Naturally, he is thrilled with his win: “I'm feeling very good about the games I displayed this week in the DreamHack tournament. I believe that I am at the highest level I've ever been right now, and I hope that I can keep it up even in the season finals.”
After lifting the precious trophy in the Summer edition of the DreamHack Masters EU tournament in July this year, Reynor can now boast with becoming the back to back champion of what is currently considered the most important and difficult tournament on European soil. He is now establishing himself as the man to beat and is looking towards the season finals that are just around the corner starting on the 15th of September.
“Reynor is really looking like the complete package. The Italian kid is something special and he looks like the absolute top favourite to win the season finals.” - Reynor’s good friend and worldwide famous caster Kevin "RotterdaM" van der Kooi commented after he secured the title.
Riccardo has already achieved fame by being the youngest foreign (non-Korean) player to qualify for GSL (Global StarCraft 2 League) at the age of 15, as well as the first Italian player and the youngest player to compete in a WCS Final (StarCraft II World Championship Series) at the age of 16. In 2019 he managed to engrave his name in the history of the game by lifting the trophy in 2 of the 4 major seasonal events, one in Kiev, Ukraine and one in California, US while also becoming the runner-up of the WCS Global Finals 2019 - the most prestigious event of the year.
With his immense talent and already a long list of huge successes, we are extremely happy to have Reynor as part of the QLASH family and are looking forward to seeing to what extent his amazing career will develop in the future.
