Rewriting the Lies That Shaped You

Rewriting the Lies That Shaped You

There’s a voice inside your head.

You know the one.

The one that whispers at your weakest moments. The one that tells you what you can’t do, who you aren’t, and why you’ll never be enough.

That voice is powerful. And the worst part? You believe it.

But here’s what I need you to ask yourself today:

Who told you that?

Because...

Somewhere along the way, you didn’t just hear those lies, you accepted them as truth.

And...

They’ve been shaping your life ever since.

The 10 A-Holes That Lied to You

Most of us don’t create our limiting beliefs from thin air. They come from pain, from people, from moments that rewired the way we see ourselves.

And...

If you take a hard look at your life, you’ll see that some of these beliefs came from the 10 A-holes that hold us all back:

1. Abuse ??

Who told you that pain was normal? That being mistreated was just the way life worked? That you deserved it?

Abuse; whether physical, emotional, or verbal; teaches you that you are powerless. That you’re unworthy of love, safety, or respect.

That’s a lie.

2. Addiction ????

Who told you that you had no control? That you needed the substance, the high, the escape just to survive?

Addiction convinces you that you’re too broken to function without a crutch. That you can’t be trusted to stand on your own two feet.

That’s a lie.

3. Atrophy ???♂??????

Who told you that you should stop growing? That you’ve peaked, plateaued, or don’t have the energy to change?

Atrophy happens when we stop pushing forward. When we let our bodies, minds, and spirits shrink because we’ve bought into the belief that we can’t improve.

That’s a lie.

4. Apathy ??

Who told you that caring doesn’t matter? That emotions are weakness? That shutting down is easier than showing up?

Apathy convinces you that checking out is safer than feeling. That life doesn’t hurt if you don’t engage.

That’s a lie.

5. Avoidance ????

Who told you that if you ignore something long enough, it will go away?

Avoidance is a thief. It steals your future by keeping you stuck in fear, in hesitation, in never quite dealing with it.

That’s a lie.

6. Admonition ??

Who told you that you were never going to measure up? That your past was too ugly? That every mistake you’ve ever made is who you are?

Admonition is the weight of judgment, self-inflicted or external. It says you’ll never be anything but your failures.

That’s a lie.

7. Anxiety ??

Who told you that danger was everywhere? That failure was inevitable? That every worst-case scenario is waiting around the corner?

Anxiety distorts reality. It convinces you that you are unsafe, even when you’re not.

That’s a lie.

8. Anger ??

Who told you that rage was the only way to survive? That people will walk all over you unless you lash out?

Anger is a defense mechanism that feels like control, but in reality, it controls you.

That’s a lie.

9. Arrogance ??

Who told you that you had to pretend you had it all together? That humility was weakness? That admitting you need help makes you lesser?

Arrogance is just fear in a mask. It keeps you from connection, from growth, from real strength.

That’s a lie.

10. Alienation ????

Who told you that no one understands you? That you’re better off alone? That if people knew the real you, they’d walk away?

Alienation isolates you under the illusion that it’s safer to suffer in silence than to let someone in.

That’s a lie.

Rewriting YOUR Story

The voices that told you these lies? They don’t get the final say.

You do.

But that means making a decision—right now—to challenge every false belief that’s been shaping your life.

Ask yourself:

  • Who told me this?
  • Why did I believe it?
  • And what happens if I stop believing it today?

Because here’s the truth:

?? You are not your past.

?? You are not your worst moment.

?? You are not beyond healing.

You were meant for more.

My Perspective...

I spent years living inside the lies. Letting them define me. Letting them shrink me. Letting them rob me of the life I was meant to live.

Until though, I finally asked, Who told me that?

And when I saw the lies for what they were, I took back my power.

I still hear those voices sometimes (and if I'm being honest... some days I still struggle with them).

But now...

I know how to silence them.

And...

I want you to do the same.

So...

Here’s my challenge:

1?? Drop a comment below. What’s one lie you’ve believed for too long — and what’s the truth you’re replacing it with?

2?? Share this with someone who needs to hear that their past does not define them.

3?? Message me directly. If you’ve been stuck in these lies and don’t know how to break free, let’s talk. You don’t have to do this alone.

Your life is too valuable to be controlled by a lie. It’s time to rewrite your story.

Let’s break the cycle — together.
