This graphic above landed in my inbox yesterday - thank you growthpath.net . It captures the essence of an important shift needed to optimize AI's potential. Much effort is already aimed at use cases - fine, but this is work we already do. Not so much toward new territory.

As has been observed, it's hard to fix problems from the same mindset / context in which they originated. Like asking a fish what water is .....

One way to start opening the thinking is to ask questions that challenge assumptions underlying mindsets.....eg

  • why do many people think that business growth profits should be just for owners?
  • why has shareholder capitalism (as widely practiced) welded itself to Accumulationwithout limit; Extractionwithout reciprocity; Alienationwithout care; Abstractionwithout ground; Generationwithout regeneration; Privatizationwithout solidarity. (thank you Gil Friend)

What would it take to open our thinking toward assembling a future in which

  • business is institutionally, culturally and financially encouraged to tackle social or natural resource issues .... what new business models can we conceive to do this?
  • AI can be wisely applied to climate change....how can we actually move the needle vs reporting on it? .... or natural resource consumption/restoration?
  • we elect people who inspire and guide entrepreneurs to create a hopeful, compelling, and abundant future for humanity (thank you Peter Diamandis)
