Ben Goldsmith?is an English financer and environmentalist. He is the founder and CEO of?Menhaden Resource Efficiency Plc, an investment trust dedicated to the efficient use of energy and resources. In 2018, he was appointed the role of non-executive director at the?Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where he played a key part in designing and passing the?Agriculture Act 2020.

Ben has recently published his memoir, ‘God is an Octopus: Loss, Love and a Calling to Nature’, which covers his search for answers as he struggled to come to terms with the sudden death of his 15 year old daughter, Iris. Ben found comfort and strength in nature following her bereavement, and writes about it extensively in his book.?
