The Rewilder Weekly ???????? moves to Substack
Daniel Martin Eckhart
?? Storyteller with #rewilding at heart. Publisher of the Rewilder Weekly ??????????
Big news - mostly for me and with no impact for you - I'm moving the Rewilder Weekly to the Substack Platform. Before I explain, let me assure you that the Rewilder Weekly will continue just as it has in the past, with all of the LinkedIn engagement you've come to know - so no worries!
Two reasons for making the move
1) Substack is a platform for writers. It is all around excellent and I've used it for a long time already for a different writerly focus of mine - screenplays and novels (to date, eight of my scripts have been produced and I'm currently working on my seventh novel - which will be entitled 'Pebbles' ... I think). Substack is a great place to be as a writer, hugely professional with its every facet.
2) LinkedIn may change at any time. I like LinkedIn, I really do, and I will continue to use it daily. LinkedIn is the Rewilder Weekly's birthplace and, to my mind, the only social media platform with professional standards. Alas, as every other social media platform, they frequently make changes. A feature may be there one moment, gone the next. Their decision. I'd rather own my work and know it to be in a place that has - first and foremost - a writer's interest at heart.
Are there any changes?
The look and feel of each Rewilder Weekly stays pretty much exactly the same and I'll continue to connect the dots by linking people, organizations and insights. By now I've re-created every Rewilder Weekly (with the related articles that's almost sixty write-ups, and that's just from April to December!) on Substack. Here's the latest edition - as you'll see - looks pretty much identical. A few things are different (and better, I think):
1) A proper home. The above screenshot gives you a sense. Now the Rewilder Weekly has its own homepage where you'll find the latest in a nice layout. In addition there are also tabs for just newsletters, or just articles. I've also added Organizations, Resources and Books and this will likely evolve and improve with your assistance - let me know what's helpful to you!
2) Sharing newsletters and articles. As easy as anywhere else. Either use the Share button or simply grab the URL and paste anywhere. Always appreciated, by the way. ??
3) Free content and support. Substack allows you to monetize your work and put all or some of it behind a paywall. I won't do that. The Rewilder Weekly will remain as free for everyone as it's always been.
4) Subscribe! I expect I'll be losing some of the currently 4169 subscribers - but I hope to regain them again on Substack, where subscribing is just as effortless (see screenshot below). But just to be clear, you don't even have to subscribe, you can also just click 'Step right in, rewilder!' at the bottom. It's just that when you subscribe, you'll get new Rewilder Weekly editions straight into your mail box the moment they go live. Up to you!
That's it for now! Like I said, the Rewilder Weekly will continue to grow and evolve (next with an 'upcoming events' feature). If you have suggestions, please do let me know. Without further ado - come with me to this week's Rewilder Weekly!
Cheers,

1 个月Sounds awesome. I'm definitely going to recommend that my son checks out Substack. As a young man beginning his enthusiasm for writing it may offer him ideas and inspiration.
Hoi Daniel, ganz schoen! Will you still be updating the editions on LinkedIn, or purely on Substack from now or soon? Machs guet! ?????
