“The rewarding journey of spirited teamwork” by Jaime Vila

One of the most beautiful and rewarding things in my professional career has been to work close to people. I consider myself an ordinary person, nothing special. I love to listen, participate, and make people feel good, comfortable, and at ease. I am sincere and open; I trust people, and people trust me. One thing that has made a difference is that I am always willing to give instead of receive because it is essential to be there for people.??

I love my job; I am passionate about making people feel valued, working with them, and helping them. We all change lives, some people more than others, but we all do. Working in Human Resources is a great opportunity but also a responsibility; you become the one that decides if people get hired, the one looking after they receive what they deserve.

My journey in the Human Resources field has been quite particular. When I started studying, I focused on Finances and preparing myself to apply for my first job with my uncle. He was a prestigious bank's executive director. I learned and applied but couldn't complete the process because we were family, so I applied for another job in the recruitment area. As time passed, I learned about hiring people, evaluations, and interviews and grew fond. Ironically, the human resources classes were not my favorite while studying. Still, in that job, I had the chance to learn so much, so it was a one-of-a-kind experience because I had the opportunity to combine my two passions: human resources and finances.?

We are often presented with opportunities that compel us to step out of our comfort zones and embark on personal growth. Through these transformative experiences, we discover new strengths, unearth hidden passions, and redefine the trajectory of our lives, and it has shaped me into the professional I am today. Throughout the years, I have realized that real growth is not in complacency but in venturing into the unknown, embracing uncertainty, and opening ourselves up to new possibilities. With this newfound mindset, I embarked on a journey of self-exploration that not only transformed my career but also profoundly impacted my personal life.

In the depths of my joyous and challenging experiences, I have learned that personal growth is not a destination to reach but a continuous process of evolution, and often, this evolution journey requires a lot of teamwork and camaraderie. It is a conscious decision to embrace change, to shed old layers of self, and to embrace the unknown with open arms, and that's what my team and I have been doing during these years, which has resulted in a beautiful journey.?

Teamwork is like the skeleton of our company, and we should share the information we hold within us; if we retain the information, we are retaining power and success, and that's not what teamwork is about. As a Human Resources leader, I have a mindset; if we promise anything, we should deliver. We must be reliable and trustworthy. You have to be honest with yourself, not only with the rest of the world. My father told me once that there’s one thing that can always remain intact: our name. We can choose whether to have a remarkable name or a completely different one.?

Learning is vital to the journey; we should all be allowed to make mistakes. I permit my team to make mistakes and be accountable; it reinforces teamwork. We all have opportunities to improve ourselves; one of my weaknesses is public speaking; I don’t feel comfortable exposing myself. But I’ve managed to work on my strengths.

I played volleyball at school for four years; I enjoyed it until I got injured. One thing I liked about playing volleyball is that my team knew they counted on me, and it's been that way since then. I always go the extra mile for my team. Now, I enjoy different things; I love watching superhero movies and am a huge fan. I also like hiking and outdoor activities, just looking at my surroundings. Observing is part of Human Resources; we are supposed to watch other people’s behavior and get to know them on a closer level, which I enjoy.?

As we reflect on the profound impact of teamwork, let us remember the words of Helen Keller: "Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much." With each collaboration and shared endeavor, we embark on a journey of growth, learning, and shared success. So, let us embrace the spirit of teamwork, nurture it, and continue to grow together, hand in hand, towards a future of limitless possibilities. Together, we are more robust, and together, we will achieve greatness.
