Reward Yourself
The past few weeks I’ve been sharing advice on how to make your new year’s resolutions stick. This last one is one that I use quite often when working toward big goals, it is focused on elaborating a reward system that works.
Let’s take this year as an example, I wanted to motivate myself to keep practicing and getting better at surfing. And the only way I could do that is by making a plan of the steps I need to accomplish in order to have progress during the year. After that, I shared the goal with somebody I trusted, to hold me accountable. My last point included creating a reward system for surfing. I decided what were my key rewards going to be during the process, and each time I complete one step I get one. This helps me stay focused through the whole year, and knowing that I will get something in return makes me motivated.
