Reward Your Heavy Lifters

Reward Your Heavy Lifters

The last two years have really prompted leaders and organizations to become focused on very important issues such as stress, anxiety, and certainly mental health issues. With that, it is also important that we recognize our heavy lifters. Heavy lifters are the ones that come to work every single day facing change and challenge with a positive attitude and an element of courage that sadly stands out as a differentiating factor in today's workplace.

There are so many heavy lifters today that we must be thankful for and here are just a few:

1.??????Nurses who in the face of COVID and risking their own health are constantly at the hospitals serving while maintaining high levels of fatigue.

2.??????How about teachers who have had to navigate virtual and in classroom procedures many for the first time in their careers. I am not sure I have met many teachers who do not demonstrate a passion towards our children and it is imperative we recognize these special people.

3.??????Youth sports coaches who constantly spend their time with little pay to invest in our youth no matter the sport teaching them teamwork and the value of practice.

4.??????Hospitality workers whose service in our restaurants and pubs with no guarantee of pay like so many other professions.

5.??????Last, parents must use this time of pandemic as a teaching tool for our kids. Showing them what it is like to face change and challenge and how to protect their family and this will serve not just our youth but our future leaders extremely well.

Take a moment and just think about your own team and who are those special people who go above and beyond the Call of Duty? The reason we praise these people is so other people have something to model their behaviors after. No matter the challenge we really in theory have no choice except to be resilient and to take change and challenge on with a fierce competitive nature. Who is that one person on your team? Have you praised them? Have you publicly celebrated them? If you can answer yes to any of these then you know the type of person you can coach other people to aspire to be like.

Share someone else or a type of person who also needs praise here below in the comments
