The event kicked off on 26 September 2024 at?79 Anson Road, The Hive where RevUp Consulting and RevUp ProServices have their new offices. As attendees relaxed, sipped wine and soaked in the sea view, the speakers' sharing was eagerly anticipated.?
Mr Patrick Tay kickstarted the speakers' section as he spoke about being guided by your 'North Star' - your shining passion, your stirring purpose and always being ready to adapt and embrace new learnings so that you can pivot when necessary to stay true to your North Star.
We had boldly experimented with running this speakers' section without a moderator. Any trepidation, however, was immediately swiped away with a lively follow-up sharing by Mr Gerald Koh which flowed seamlessly from the previous speaker as he mused about embracing new adventures, capitalising on transferable skillsets to fuel you on your new pursuits, and entertained the participants with interesting anecdotes. He too, alluded to passion being the anchor for these new adventures and how it enlivens you when you pursue them, even when new things are always uncomfortable and challenging.?
Ms Madeline Ho picked up smoothly from there and spoke about building new things passionately and passing on a legacy both in terms of businesses and organisations you have built up, as well as the people you have developed, grown and uplifted during those journeys. She spoke about the importance of paying it forward as she has benefited from bosses and mentors who entrusted her with new portfolios and uplifted her with belief and faith.
Mr James Loo summed it all up brilliantly with Career FITNESS
F ocus - focus on your North Star and purpose. Why do you want to be in this profession?
I nvest - invest in yourself continuously by learning new skills?
T ransform - transform your mindset and the way you work. You do not need to settle for the same job scope year after year, you can proactively change that!
N etwork - build a network of like-minded individuals to inspire and 'live it up' in your career journey.?
E xpertise - Build specific expertise in your chosen field. This increases your value.
S elf-reflection - regularly self-reflect and evaluate your motivations, your dampeners, your strengths and your development areas. That will help you to make necessary changes.
S elf-care - take care of yourselves physically, mentally, spiritually! Our career lives are a marathon, not a sprint!?
The night concluded with a splendid networking session while being lavished by great food and drinks provided by Umami10 and FedwithMatcha. Name cards were exchanged, discourse about the event's subject matter was shared, new connections were forged, and participants enthused about the interesting topics for the next Series.
We are proud to have hosted the first Live Series event, undeterred by the relative infancy of the RevUp brand. Stay tuned for the next Series!
