RevOps Roundup - July 2022

RevOps Roundup - July 2022

Welcome to another RevOps Roundup. It's the third Thursday of July (can you believe it?) so it's time to dive in to the latest and greatest in the field of Revenue Operations.

The first h/t of the month goes to a certain Stephen Diorio , Managing Director at The Revenue Enablement Institute , for this article in Forbes, which explains how Revenue Operations adds value (that most fundamental of tasks).

Briefly, he explains why RevOps has emerged, at least partly as a result of:

  • Customer experience (CX) becoming business priority No. 1
  • Cloud business models driving the necessity of customer retention and maximising lifetime value (LTV)
  • The nature of sales changing fundamentally, along with the increasing value of data

...businesses that continue to use outdated functional approaches to managing sales, marketing, and customer success resources and the enterprise customer journey are struggling to become more digital, data driven, and dynamic. The failure to align commercial teams, operations, processes, and systems around the customer has significant financial consequences...

As I've said before, to me this is a practice of people, processes and platforms; so here's what's caught my eye this month in each pillar.

People

This month's shout out is for Eddie Reynolds , CEO at Union Square Consulting .

Not only does Eddie's firm share a name with a prestigious precinct in my hometown (would I be so vein? Pretty sure New York's is more famous than Aberdeen’s, anyway...) but Eddie took the time to reach out and have a conversation about what's happening in Revenue Operations on this side of the pond.

Eddie's content on this platform is always inspiring and never afraid to challenge opinions, he keeps professionals in this industry moving forward.

Thanks, Eddie.

Processes

Roadmap. It's that simple. Those who follow me may have caught my "satnav" analogy of operations earlier this week. But whether your preference is physical, digital or phygital (yep, someone went there) what we can agree is required is a roadmap.

There's no other way to ensure you get to your organisational destination, than starting out with a clear statement of intent and a well-honed guide to getting you there.

Furthermore, roadmapping for RevOps needn't be difficult and indeed Abhijeet Vijayvergiya , Co-Founder & CEO at Nektar.ai has produced the "Ultimate Guide to RevOps Roadmaps".

Interviewing countless other leaders in the space, the guide covers:

  1. Removing the guesswork
  2. Templates and checklists
  3. Tips from the experts

I can't recommend it enough: get your copy here.

Platforms

I've written before about "data, data everywhere; but how to make it sync?"

Well, no more. In the noble (and imperative) pursuit of data parity, the clever folks at Syncari have developed the leading Data Automation Platform (DAP).

"Single source of truth is dead!" they say. "Try the only complete distributed truth platform for your revenue operations."

That may sound like a bold ambition, but they're living it and, it works!

HubSpot Ecosystem_Syncari

What's more - it's available directly within the HubSpot ’s App Marketplace, for fellows of the orange brigade.

Get syncing.

Well, that's all for this time, folks. Short and sweet (there's been rather a lot of RevOps happening in our camp, too!) but I still wanted to take the time to share what's foremost in my mind in this field, from our side of the world.

I hope there's at least one item here that will be useful to you, even if it's to follow some of the thought-leaders above and bring a little more inspiration into your day.

And I do hope you'll join me next month for another RevOps Roundup!

Should you have any questions, thoughts or ideas - I'd love to hear them in the comments.

Solid article Adam J. B.. Thanks for the shout out. And yes, Union Square Consulting's name was inspired by the neighborhood I live in as well as the legendary VC firm, Union Square Ventures. After I registered the name, though, I started learning there are Union Squares everywhere! Guess it should not be that surprising and as a team distributed across the US, and to a lesser extent globally, I suppose it fits us!
