Revolutionize Your Innovation Journey: The Most Transformative Program for Inventors and R&D Managers for 2024!
Daniel J. O'Connor
Consultant Principal @ The Inventors Academy | IP and Commercialisation Specialist
For those of you who know me, I have held no secret of my intent to deck out a bus and travel around Australia while I deliver consulting and training online to those that need it. My project was conceived in 2015 and was summarized in my vision of “2020 – Teach-From-The-Beach”
Well, 2020 brought with it a viral contagion that changed almost everyone’s plans.
The bus plan got “parked,” and we modified how we coach inventors so that more of the independent inventors could afford our services, implement what we teach (as we taught it), and experience a tangible change in their commercial trajectory within a few months, instead of years. It had to be both affordable and effective for either commercial, industrial, or consumer innovation.
The Inventors Academy was structured, populated, and then launched as an affordable and effective method of delivering the skills and knowledge that every inventor needed to commercialize their innovation.
The 2024 phase of our mission is to bring the program to life in the USA with the establishment of our presence in North America. We specifically chose Pacific time for the maximum crossover with Australian Western time and expect to be able to start interviewing USA and Canada resident inventors when our newest member, James Mason, commences on January 8th. You can book a chat with James on www.USA30Mins.com or by email at [email protected]
To make this program effective and affordable for all inventors, we focus on just four pillars of learning over six months. As we provide a guarantee of agreed outcomes, we are careful about what needs to be done and what needs to be left for later.
Prior to accepting new projects into the program, we complete selection criteria, which is mostly about making sure the prime project has immediate commercial value, can meet the pricing/costing/sourcing criteria, and the inventor will consent to work on just this project until the primary objective is achieved. From this point, we will formally offer the program to these inventors and invite them to register. Our intakes are in groups of 6 and are launched at the beginning of each month so we can deliver our second phase to each member individually.

Pillar 1 – the Learning
The way we commercialize innovation is not based on the conventional methods used by tertiary institutions or larger corporate organizations. These methods require deep pockets and lots of internal resources – including time. We based our program on 40 years of a more practical form of IP commercialization I have experienced, which is based on inventors having less access to resources (like finance, legal, engineering, etc.), and we have taken years to distill the learning into the six steps of intellectual property commercialization.
We use over 60 case studies, together with video-based learning, checklists, templates, quizzes, and other tools to ensure the learning is able to be actioned, within the six months of the program. To learn more about the Six Steps, I recommend https://youtu.be/2X5SfABEH5o

Pillar 2 – The Workshop
The second step is the private workshop to set the ideation and commercial modeling of your invention. This is critical for many reasons, but the prime reason is to allow you to optimize the returns you can expect by selecting the best commercial model or building a layered hybrid model to generate income from more than one source. Pillar 3 - Implementation
In the five months of implementation, we are chasing just one of the four core cash-generating transactions agreed to in our workshop that will change your project trajectory. In your workshop, you have selected one of these as your primary objective, and we are making sure your action plan will achieve it.

We know that most inventors will not get this done quickly or perfectly if we left them to do it without any guidance. To make sure the commercial objective is achieved within the six months, we work with you, and you speak directly with me on a weekly scheduled group coaching call.
You also have the monthly private project status review sessions, which we use to track your progress. We are well aware that sometimes you can't wait until your next scheduled group coaching session, so we make sure your project keeps moving by giving you the option to book a 30-minute reach-out call directly with me (www.daniel30mins.com), and I will solve your immediate issue and get your project back on track.

Pillar 4 – Validation
If you don’t measure a task, it won’t get done. We run a series of Project Status Reviews to make sure everything we agreed to in the workshop is being implemented in the sequence we set. We also have that reach-out program for members where they can book a 30-minute call with me if what they are doing isn’t working or they are getting overwhelmed.
To be assured of success, we have to do this with you. To meet this guarantee condition, we make sure we are part of getting this first cash-generating objective done.
We will track your progress weekly and insist on incremental effort – as we know this will lead to progress. These don’t happen in one big “overnight success” event. The first cash-generating transaction is the culmination of a series of tasks that have delivered you – the inventor – a funding partnership, a distributor, a licensee, or a buyer for the project.
After we have worked with you to achieve the first objective – we will use your remaining time in the program to focus on the next event. This may be a repeat of the last event or an entirely different one.
If you are able to complete a number of transactions, pretty soon you have a business asset – with business income. At a point in the future, you will have sufficient growth and income to reach pre-scale. This will change everything for you. This is the point at which you invite venture capital or private equity funds to help you scale your project – to achieve its annual income every week.
With good income, sound contracts, and a solid growth trajectory, everybody who had previously passed on your funding pitches will suddenly want to be your best friend.
