Revolut has announced the introduction of "Revolut Ramp," a new feature in collaboration with MetaMask, a self-custodial wallet, designed to streamline the process of purchasing cryptocurrencies for its customers. Through Revolut Ramp, users will have the capability to directly fund their MetaMask wallets using their accounts with Revolut. This service aims to facilitate the acquisition of cryptocurrencies by allowing transactions directly into MetaMask wallets for those in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA), simplifying the process of adding cryptocurrencies to self-custody wallets. Customers have the option to utilize the fiat funds available in their Revolut accounts or to make payments using Visa or Mastercard, as mentioned in the announcement.

Lorenzo Santos, a senior product manager at Consensys, the company that developed MetaMask, emphasized the user benefits of this partnership: "This partnership is really about giving our users what they want – more control over their crypto, in a straightforward way, using platforms they already know and trust." Santos also highlighted the significance of this initiative in promoting wider cryptocurrency adoption: "It also plays a crucial role in fostering broader crypto adoption, opening up the world of crypto to more people."

In addition to this new feature, Revolut disclosed in February plans to launch a cryptocurrency service tailored for "advanced traders," based on information from a customer email that CoinDesk had access to. Revolut currently provides basic cryptocurrency-related services to a substantial portion of its 40 million customers. However, in December, the company paused cryptocurrency services for its business clients in the U.K., attributing the suspension to new regulations by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regarding cryptocurrency promotions.
