REVIT PRO TIPS 06 - Using Scope Boxes to Control GA Views

If your company Revit Template contains preloaded Views and Sheets (see Revit Template Pro Tips 04), you will need an effective method of adjusting viewport boundaries.
Upon project startup the Views need to be positioned correctly on each Sheet to accommodate different building footprints.
To allow this to be done globally across the model consider assigning a Scope Box to the general arrangement views.
Simply adjust the boundary of the Scope Box to update all general arrangement views in one hit.
Scope Box Top Tips
When using Scope Boxes ensure they are always named with a brief description. This makes it clear to users of its purpose and hopefully avoids it being inadvertently adjusted or removed.
To add further security and control to Scope Boxes, place them on their own specific Workset.
Aligning Views Globally
Once the viewports have been cropped to suit the building footprint, they will then need to be repositioned consistently on all Sheets.
Given the volume of Views this could me a mammoth task, but thankfully help is on hand.
Check out the Align Views add-in which does a great job:??Align Views | Revit | Autodesk App Store
Alternatively look at Michael Kilkelly company Archsmarter who create some great tools including an Align Views: https://www.archsmarter.com

Thanks Josip. We find it brilliant for keeping repetitive architectural plans looking consistent across all packages of work - it also makes it much quicker to adjust the plan footprint should there be any amendments. I presume it could be used on other project types where consistency is required.

1 年Never really gained an appreciation for this workflow, working in the buildings space (though thinking about it maybe should have used it more), but with having exposure to the civil Infrastructure space, this is a workflow well worth considering, and one we use to control all views.
