This article is an extract from here.
In this next article in the series we will go and try to explain the fun part, rebar placement!!
Rebar placement is done with these few buttons in the ribbon.
And of course the distribution of those rebars placed is controlled by the last few buttons on the ribbon.
Rebar placement is dependant on the view in which you placing the rebar and the orientation of the rebar in that view.
An example could be when working with a view on a floor level (Level 1 in this case) and a slab on that level you would most likely work with the Near Cover Reference (to place rebar on to top side) and Far Cover Reference (To place rebar on the bottom side). In the example below you place the rebar in a Level view and see the result in Section 3.
Another example could be when placing rebar in a column.
In the image below you can see Section 2 on the left with the view where the section was taken on the right.
In this case the 3 placement options are:
- Current Work Plane – Section plane in the “Section 1” View
- Near Cover – bottom of the column or the rear side of the current view direction
- Far Cover – top of the column or the furthest cover place away from the view in the view direction
For more examples watch the following video.
*** Important Space bar can toggle placement of bars in some cases ***
(BTW there are many more variations of placing Rebar, but these are two common examples)
Enjoy.
