Revision Geek - Last minute ACCA tips!

Revision Geek - Last minute ACCA tips!

I really want you to pass your ACCA exam next week guys!

But just for the record … I dislike giving last minute revision tips!

?? I believe in a 30 day revision phase – not a 30 second cram at the end! ??

But … I know a lot of you are sitting an ACCA exam next week and I want to give you some revision coaching that will work so that YOU pass {with confidence}

Caveat – because this is super important to me – rushing and doing 50 hours of revision over this weekend is completely USELESS!

What ‘should’ you be spending your time on then?!

?? Small smart bitesized revision tasks

?? Exam technique practice that will make a difference on exam day

?? Calm, confident boosting brain and body energy

Let me share some insight into what I am coaching specifically with my ACCA students this week.

They are sitting Financial Management (FM), Financial Reporting (FR) and Strategic Business Leader (SBL)

Bare in mind they have all had a 30 day revision phase with me, so have been smart ?? and completed many mocks already.

In my professional opinion there is a risk if you sit your 1st mock this weekend, that your brain and body won’t have the right exam energy for next week… but I’ll explain more later.

So the focus with my students this week is all about small tweaks!

What one (yes only 1) tweak can we focus on every day to boost either

?? Exam technique

?? Confidence

?? Knowledge recall

It’s a simple process, but the power is in accountability.

They are keeping themselves accountable each week by sticking to the revision plans we write together, implementing the coaching exercises I give them and having that much needed support and clarity (which is priceless imo)

You’re reading this for a reason – right?!

So – let’s agree something!

I give you some last minute #revisiongeek tips

And you give me a ‘YesHelen’ in the comments – and do the tips!

Stay ACCOUNTABLE please!

ACCA Tip #1

Like I said a mock at this late stage of revision is not always the best option.

Of course, you know you ‘should’ have sat a few mocks by now … but I get it (I was so too scared to sit one before because it would show what I didn’t know)

But – the tip is – do a mock!

Caveat – Saturday is the only day you have permission from me to do a mock though!

If you have already done a mock and are familiar with the exam techniques, timing, and format – then how about a split mock.

Test yourself in sections instead of the whole 3 hour exam.

ACCA Tip #2

Know your timings

You have either 1.8 minutes per mark or 2.5 minutes per mark.

Know this time! Use it wisely! And stick to it properly!

Yes Mr ACCA is testing your knowledge and wants you to apply what you know, but the big part of the test is doing that within 1.8 minutes per mark!

If your section is 30 marks that is 54 minutes – use them all (no more, and no less)

ACCA Tip #3

Read the examiners report

This is a golden piece of writing that will help you to focus on exactly what you should (and shouldn’t) do on exam day.

Mr ACCA has give you his opinion and exam specific advice #thankyou

Let’s read it, and take a few revision tips from the report to ensure you’re not *that* student ??

I recommend only focusing on the 2021 reports (most recent are more relevant)
