REVIEW: "MICKEY 17"! GOOD SCI-FI FILM! WORTH YOUR TIME!
"Parasite" was no fluke and "Mickey 17" is the proof and proves that director Bong Joon Ho is the real deal. "Mickey 17" is one pinball of movie (In this case your the ball.) full of ideas, humanity and thrills. In other words a thinking man's sci-fi (That's really good.). Back to you being the ball as you will literally be bouncing of the walls from director Bong Joon Ho wacky and warped science fiction journey of lovable loser Mickey to get it right, push back hard to a abusive government who this expendable to set things right. He goes from loser to hero.
"
Robert Pattison is great in this film as Mickey (Your going to love this lovable loser.). So is Naomi Ackie and Steven Yeun are fine as his lover and best friend in need. With two bad and selfish people played by Toni Collete and Mark Ruffalo (He's a blast as that Trump like chancellor.). Those planet aliens called the Creepers are cool, cunning and will call your bluff (Got the biggest laugh in the film.). Got to give "Mickey 17" for a least swinging for the fences and that where it wins and fails. When the last time where a sci-fi film presented ideas for you think about (That's a great sign for a movie.).
If "Mickey 17" had a spiritual cousin it would be Alex from "A Clockwork Orange". Where Alex is just plain evil. Mickey is just a good guy trying his best to make day by day. The only problem I had with this film. Is that is should been made with a PG13 audience in mind. When it does come out on home video. I wouldn't mind see a longer cut. In the end it's saving that no human life is expendable or should ever be used for government testing and take that human right away for the mighty dollar (Even if it's a human clone and life!). Don't be surprised if "Mickey 17" turns out to be a cult classic in 2025 and maybe a Oscar nomination for Robert Pattison. Wish they put that cool 1980's Toni Basil song on the end credits. "Mickey 17" is so fine, it will blow your mind! Mahalo, Thank You and Wake Up!
