I enjoyed reading “Makers of Destiny: Sequel to Die to Live Again" by David Crane, a brilliant and versatile author. I read the predecessor, “Die to Live Again: A Post-Apocalyptic Novel” and enjoyed it very much especially the description of the nuclear holocaust at the beginning of the book which was extremely descriptive and made me realize the true horror of nuclear war and I loved reading Tanya’s survival in a strange and different world and the importance of nature.
Makers of Destiny starts with a gripping scene of frightened children and the drama of an important rescue and again, I was brought into the post-apocalyptic world many years later with Tanya. She, of course, is very strong, but the prejudices against her and those like her are akin to the prejudices of today and very thought-provoking.
The author with his strong imagination takes the reader through very interesting, dramatic, and highly emotional scenes causing the reader to reflect on prejudices and hate. The story is sci-fi, of course, but the hatred is as real as it is today throughout the world. It gives the reader a strong showing of the dark side of human nature which sadly survived through nuclear holocaust when you think people should know better after going the horrors of nuclear war.
The amazing adventures, gripping scenes, and infinite imagination of the author kept my interest as this very exciting and imaginative story progressed at a good pace. There are twists and turns in the story and unexpected events and a wonderful ending.
Best line, “We don’t believe in fate. We all have our mission in life. We are the Maker of Destiny.”
