Review on "The Magic of the Lost Temple"
Books by Sudha Murty have always been a source of solace, welcoming the inner child. "THE MAGIC OF THE LOST TEMPLE" is one of her amazing works and my personal favorite. The narrative centers on the typical metropolitan life of a small child named "Nooni" and her parents in Bangalore. She is a brave, inquisitive, and daring young girl. Her sense of adventure gives her a wonderful birthday present. She spends her summer vacations visiting her grandparents' village in Karnataka, "Somanahalli." Little did she know that this summer would be the best of all of them. She was hesitant to approach strangers at first, but she gradually began to make friends there. She appreciates the breathtaking scenery and country lifestyle that she is unable to experience in Bangalore. She travels, picks up bicycling skills, meets new people, and gains more knowledge of the natural world.
She helps her grandparents with their everyday work and spends her time with her pals Medha, Amit, Anand, and Mahadeva. She was fascinated by every tiny detail during all of the activities, which sparks her curiosity and leads to many inquiries.
She used to hear different versions of the folklore from her grandmother, grandfather, and the local headmaster when she was staying there. It was about a stepwell that had water as delicious as nectar and was constructed during King Somanayaka's reign. It was either built by an elderly architect or given as a reward by the maidens of heaven, and it was destroyed by some disappointed circumstances. Each one had a different versions to this tale.
?One fine day, Nooni and her pals go on a short trip to the neighbouring river and travel through the forest, where she discovers new plants and vegetation. On the journey, Nooni's boots were trapped in the mud; while attempting to retrieve her boot, they discovered something else beneath. Despite everyone's rejection, Nooni was adamant about discovering what was hidden beneath. When they saw her determination, they were all willing to investigate more. They dug and gradually discovered a pillar that had been sculpted. They decided to proceed after alerting the elders.
Everyone was thrilled to hear this news when they told the elders. Everyone began getting ready for the upcoming excavation. The entire town gathered to plan things out. They were divided up into various groups to work in. The work started the following day. They were also able to fully excavate the site with the assistance of the Archaeology Department.
They discovered eight stunning temples and twenty-one steps leading from the surface to the bottom of the well, much to the amusement and labour of everybody involved. The only things that made everything possible were the villagers' diligence and concern for the well-being of their community. The locals cherished the waterbodies and emphasised the value of water.
Not to be forgotten, It was Nooni's determination to go beyond the ordinary and her curiosity to find more had been the initial point to all these.
Sometimes, we must be determined to take that one extra step to get an exceptional result. All it takes is the ONE EXTRA STEP!!!
Many of us are still on the edge of giving up; what if it's only one step that separates us from achieving our goal?
Dare to take that one step to see the magic ahead!
