Review?: Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate Course

As someone who completed Google's Data Analytics Certificate last year, I can attest to its effectiveness as a great starting point for those interested in the field. The program does an excellent job of introducing individuals to what data analysis is and its importance in today's world.

The program covers a range of topics, including collecting and examining data, extracting information, and utilizing different visualization tools and programming languages. It provides content in the form of videos, readings, quizzes, hands-on activities, and more.

One of the strengths of the certificate program is the tools it covers, including Google Sheets, BigQuery, R, and Tableau. Through hands-on practice, learners gain skills in analytical thinking, data collection, data cleaning, data analysis, and data visualization.

The program also offers several pros, including employees working in the field of data analytics from Google sharing their experiences, external resources such as articles, blogs, websites and YouTube videos, and an informative section on job search preparation. The section on building resumes, using LinkedIn for networking, and presenting projects prepares learners for interviews and gives them an edge in the job market.

However, there are some cons to the program. Some of the tools, such as R and Tableau, are not covered in much detail. Instead of R, the program should have taught Python, which is currently the most demanded language in the data industry. The certificate also fails to teach statistics which is a critical component of data analysis.

In terms of the time commitment, it took me around five months to complete the program. However, this duration depends on an individual's speed of completion and grasping power.

To wrap up, the Google Data Analytics Certificate is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in data analytics. However, learners should continue to learn more about statistics in detail for improved analysis and continuously build their portfolio projects on SQL and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
