Reverse the Curse // 1 Peter 4:16
By Mark Jordan | Spiritual Advisor
The title of Christian as it defines a Jesus follower was likely an insult in the time when the Church began to spread. Peter gives us a glimpse into that with what he wrote in v.14, “If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” The bottom line is Peter wants us to know that we are in good company when we are put down because of our faith. No one wants to be disliked or bullied, but Jesus predicted this when He said that if the world hates us, we are to remember it hated Him first (John 15:18). So, let’s stand strong knowing we are in the company of Christ. That boldness doesn’t just point people to God, but it reverses the curse and glorifies the name of the Lord! Are you willing to stand up for Jesus? Are you willing to help reverse the curse of our debased culture?
