A Reverie
Michael K.
Senior System Acquisition Specialist - Electronic Warfare Systems at Koniag Government Services
I approached him carefully, his stature unbelievable. His jet black coat shining in the lights. He bowed his head a bit, getting a better look at me, summing up my worth. I could see deep into his eyes, piercing. He stomped one hoof, dragging it slowly backwards, snorting at me as if to say, you’re not ready. I stammered a bit, without understanding why. I assured him I was ready, climbed on his back. I’m not entirely positive he believed me.
"I’d long ago forgotten the path he journeyed and would never understand how to unwind the past."
I watched the rippled muscles flex with a strength that lent to his gentle nature. He was both protection and exploration. Unbridled passion and restrained fury. Mesmerized with each beat of his hooves, we became intertwined in a union of our two souls with the depths of an abyss. I was confident his intentions were well placed and yet, a bit hesitant of where he might be taking me. I’d long ago forgotten the path he journeyed and would never understand how to unwind the past. This stallion was driven to carry me towards that which I couldn’t understand.
"Words not spoken said everything."
Chasing an ever elusive yearning, near and yet very far, he kept the pace reckless. Amongst beating hooves, that sound, almost too faint, my ears sensed a gentle voice. I was lacking conscious thought and glanced over my shoulder, an unimaginable sight. Suddenly he slowed and turned, pitching me dangerously close to falling off. As we approached her, my heart leapt unrestrained, my charger barely moving. She smiled, warm and inviting. Words not spoken said everything. We sat, staring at each other. Understanding everything, barely breathing in short gasps. We were there for a while, how long I’ll never really know. Once the intuition was complete, she lowered her gaze looking him directly in the eye, willing his action. His head rose abruptly and he was hurtling away with the speed of hummingbird wings. I lost my grip and slipping backwards, catching myself… barely. The world streaking by, blazing fast now, going back to where I was once again. A feeling of obtaining loss flowed through me like a tributary of desolation.

6 年Oh my!! I am awaiting the next episode of this, Michael!! I felt every action and emotion. The intensity, the “lost-in-the-moment” feeling, the unspoken understandings...all of it was superb! Bravo!
