Revelation 13:9: Hearing with Spiritual Ears Part 1
Today's Bible study focus is on the following verse.
"Revelation 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear."
If any man have:
The Lord Jesus Christ has repeatedly said a version of this verse on more than one occasion. Anyone with one or two working ears can hear a trumpet or his voice. The meaning obviously has a deeper and spiritual meaning.
"Mark 4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear."
"Mark 7:16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear."
"Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."
Verse number parallels:
"John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."
"Micah 7:16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf."
"John 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst."
So, Jesus is talking about the hearing by the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit), and in John 8:9, people's conscience.
Let's focus on the conscience.
"Acts 23:1-2 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth."
"Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men."
"Romans 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)"
"Romans 9:1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,"
"1 Corinthians 8:7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled."
"1 Corinthians 8:12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ."
"2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward."
"1 Timothy 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:"
So, having faith in Jesus Christ results in having a good conscience, thoughts, and intentions that are good toward God, Jesus, and His people. We are unable to do any of this without the Holy Spirit anointing. Antichrists have the mind of idols and have thoughts that are evil toward God, Jesus, and His people. They have no knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, but they are full of fleshly wisdom instead.

an ear let:
In the Old Testament, the physical nation of Israel heard only heard from and understood God through prophets who heard God through His Holy Spirit anointing. God told the people commands that they physically heard, but ignored and didn't obey.
"Jeremiah 34:14 At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear."
In the New Testament, God, through Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit, tells the spiritual nation of Israel (Romans 11) the same thing.
"Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."
"Revelation 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death."
"Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it."
This is a theme that we should really pay attention to. Here are some parallel verses.

"Daniel 2:29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass."
"Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."
