Rev. Al Sharpton Counters Trump Inauguration with MLK Tribute in Washington, DC

January 20, 2025 - Washington, DC, USA: Keeping Martin Luther King's Dream alive on the slain civil rights leader's holiday--a dream of civil rights, fairness and economic equity--the Rev. Al Sharpton and thousands of supporters who traveled from across the country to assemble and rally in Washington, DC's Metropolitan AME Church as a counterpoint to the Trump Inauguration. Rev. Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), announced a new initiative to protect from Trump's attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) by boycotting companies and entities committed to its rollback. "Those who want to undo DEI may control the House, they may control the Senate, and they may control the White House, but they have no say over how we use our dollars," said Rev. Sharpton. As we mark Dr. King's legacy on Monday, this demonstration will be a reminder that his dream is far from realized. National Action Network and our allies will send a clear message to Corporate America that Black and Brown communities have buying power, and we will support those who are with us and not spend with those who aren't.”
