Reuben's Bell Ringing
Never mind if anyone hears a tree fall in the forest!
If you hear a bell ring at Westmead Children's Hospital it means a lifelong celebration is about to begin.
It was a huge privilege to attend Reuben’s Bell Ringing yesterday to signify he is now cancer free.
Reuben and his very proud Mum Leah, ring The Celebration Bell together.
Reuben was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. Since then he has smiled through chemo, transfusions and many surgeries.
During the month of October, riders all around Australia rode for him in the Great Cycle Challenge to raise funds for research into this disease at Children's Medical Research Institute.
This brave young man was joined by mum Leah, family, friends, teachers and hospital staff to commend him on his outstanding tenacity.
The proud ringmaster and instigator of this magnificent ruckus was Dr Luciano Dalla-Pozza, the Head of the Cancer Centre for Children at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
Having completed his HSC under the most arduous circumstances, Reuben is now preparing for university.
Rueben, you are an inspiration.
Hats off to you, sir.
You rang that bell. You rang it hard and proud.
