Return to Office ?On purpose?! | 2023
Remote work has grown in popularity in recent years, with many speaking it to be the future of work. However, recent trends show that an increasing number of individuals and organisations are choosing to return to the workplace.
Personally, I've found myself in this situation. Pushing for 100% WFH just to wish I could work someplace other than my home. Why, you ask? Let's get started!
While remote employment allows for greater flexibility and autonomy, some organisations believe that face-to-face engagement encourages greater teamwork and creativity. In-office environments frequently encourage spontaneous idea-sharing, brainstorming sessions, and chance meetings, which improves collaboration and creativity.
2. Culture and social interaction in the workplace:
Maintaining a strong company culture and encouraging social contact among employees is critical for many organisations. Being present in the workplace provides for informal talks, team-building events, and a sense of camaraderie that can be difficult to replicate in a remote work environment.

3. Skills Development and Mentorship:
Mentorship and skill development are greatly enhanced in-person work contexts. Junior employees benefit from more experienced colleagues' direction and assistance, and on-the-job learning becomes more accessible while working side by side with teammates.
4. Resource access and infrastructure:
Some companies need the use of specialised equipment or infrastructure that may not be available at home. Laboratories, specialised software, or hardware-intensive jobs sometimes demand on-site attendance, making remote work impractical for specific positions.
5. Challenges associated with work-life balance:
Although remote work allows for greater flexibility, it can confuse the boundaries between?work and at home. When the house serves as your workplace, it may be difficult to detach from work. Returning to work creates a distinct division, encouraging greater work-life balance for certain people.
While remote work is still a MAJOR part of the IT sector and isn't going away, more people are opting to work in a real office a few days a week. Social engagement, mental health advantages, and collaboration chances are just a few of the numerous reasons why distant work is no longer acceptable.
