Retrofit Multi-Spindle Lathe

This time it is a highly complex multi-spindle lathe.

This old lady has 7 nc cross slides and 6 nc longitudinal slides.

In sum we control after the retrofit more than 45 axis in 20 channels.

The customer requirement was to

• Keep existing machine due to singularity of its mechanical concept
• Extended service availability to 2038
• Increase productivity
• Run machine with one high performance control

With the new control and drive concept from Bosch Rexroth, the machine can be operated with just 1 control and 2 connected HMIs. The slides were converted from electro-hydraulic adjustment to high-precision servo motor technology. All I/Os and cable are changed and the safety and mechanic is updated to the latest art of technology.

The productivity is after the retrofit more than 5% higher.

Before the retrofit electrohydraulic actuators were dominating the machine. After the retrofit are exchanged with high precise servomotors.

• Cabinet building & wiring in the machine
