A retro of my last few months!
The last few months have flown, some literal flying, but mainly a a collection of amazing experiences with awesome people. Kōkiri was / has / is an incredible journey, from the scoping, preparing, programming, recruiting, and finally executing, it is pleasing to know (with evidence) that indigenous lead business in New Zealand is prospering, and not only in traditional areas of the primary industries, but in areas of tech and social innovation. What's more, is seeing the 10 teams I had the privilege of supporting still growing, and continuing to build post programme, and hitting the international stage - there are two teams who have launched into Australia, two that are off to Scotland in three weeks, and another en route to Ireland in a few months.... WOW, just WOW - these are proud 'Dad-like' moments. And if that wasn't enough, there's revenue generation (and good rev gen)!
NOW, the above is something I am really proud of, but what I have enjoyed most is working (and learning) from some incredible people - this isn't a 'thank-you list', but I need to share pictures, videos and links to some really inspiring people that are making a difference in their communities, and have the prospect of doing it on a global level!
Here's a simple business model lead by two brothers - and it's evolved since this... www.servicepros.co.nz
and Mateawa Keelan from Hikurangi Enterprises, leading her community towards communal wealth by utilising the existing skills and resources of the community - and showcasing that no matter where you are (Ruatoria in this instance) or how far removed you are from the 'big smoke', you can make it happen!
And there is so much more! Needless to say the past 12, 6, and even 3 months have been a whirlwind - I love the space I work in.
You're gonna hear more from me in this space - but as always, reach out, ask questions, pick my brain. For now though, I'll leave you with an image of our founders with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (taken days before baby Neve arrived) and a favorite quote of mine.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me - Batman
