No Retreat from Truth

More Thoughts about Galatians: 4:8-11.?Paul was writing to congregations that were composed largely of Gentile converts.?However, there were Jewish believers in the congregations as well.?Much of his teaching applied to Jews and Gentiles.

When the converts did not know God they were slaves to those which by nature are no gods.?These supposed “gods” had no existence as gods, but people were enslaved to these idols anyway.?Paul asks these people why they were turning back again to weak and worthless elemental things.?The weak and elemental things included rules about food, drink, and many other things.?Paul feared that his labor to bring them to maturity would be in vain.

As we study Paul’s epistle, I am continually surprised by the challenges to faith that Paul encountered.?When we think of the early church, we see the great manifestations of God’s love and power, but we also see the problems that arose.?The amazing truth is that Jesus has brought His church through all of this.?We encounter problems today as well.?However, our cry to the Lord is that we will not turn back.?We will praise God for His grace and the gift of salvation.
