Retirement wasn't the end for Unifi Cabin Agent, who found a second passion in aviation
Philip Morgan served 30 years as a fireman. But when he retired, he found life just a little too laid-back, so he accepted a part-time job as a cabin agent for Unifi and now enjoys a second career in aviation, where he works with people from all over the world.?
Morgan enjoys his coworkers' diversity, saying, "I work with people who are Hispanic and of African descent and enjoy hearing stories about where they are from and how they grew up."
He's also not the only current or former firefighter working at the airport. Morgan says there are many others, and they all enjoy getting the chance to work together again.?
Recently, Morgan's training in emergency services came in handy, and he was recognized for his quick thinking.?
"I was arriving for work and going through the security checkpoint when another airport employee collapsed," he says. Morgan immediately jumped into action, getting the employee out of the metal detector area and checking for vitals until emergency personnel arrived.
According to Morgan, another perk of the job is the flight benefits. He has used his flight benefits to visit his son in Ireland and his daughter in Michigan.?
"I really enjoy the job and being a part of people's journeys," he says. I also like that at this stage in my life, I'm able to do some travel as well—that's a nice bonus."
Morgan advises others to be open to new opportunities, even after one chapter of life has closed.
