Retired....the next chapter?
I recently did a toastmaster speech comparing life to chapters in a book. The first chapters being the beginning of life - walking, talking, developing a personality. As we travel through the book we travel through life....grade school, high school, sports, music, developing friendships, college, first heartbreaks, careers, disappointment and/or pure joy, marriage, children. Some of us might have a "good read" others not so. I remember back in the day thinking that 65 was not only "very old" but so far away. Now that it has crept upon me, I know that it is not old, and; here, not a distant future. I also know that retired is by no means a "final chapter". I have lots of living to do. The "bucket list" can be checked off and enjoyed. I have met so many interesting people, learned about so many businesses throughout my career. I love the work that I have been engaged with, love Central New York. You might not see me every day, but my work will continue connecting businesses, engaging and working with initiatives, you will hear my voice bringing awareness and raising funds for my go to charitable cause - Alzheimer's Association and you can read about my travels to add to your "bucket list". Until then......
