Rethinking Talent Acquisition: Beyond Broken Models to Data-Driven Matchmaking
This month I am very focused – maybe obsessed is a better word – on ways that that the current staffing and recruitment model is broken – and how it can be transformed.
I use the term "broken” because the model is not just inefficient, it actually incentivizes counterproductive behavior. After more than 20 years in the talent acquisition space, I should know.
We are going to dig into things like why resumes are a bad basis for identifying candidates and why the typical fee structure is misaligned with the goal of making great matches.
But my passion for this topic is more focused on the potential ways that we can transform the model. I believe that we can leverage technology, data and new business models to reinvent the Talent Acquisition model.
Instead of resumes, we can use detailed, data-driven, holistic profiles of both the ideal candidate and every applicant. And we can change the fee structure to reward great matches that save vetting and interview time.
