In the world of technology and AI, buzzwords tend to proliferate rapidly. One term that has gained immense popularity in recent years is "Artificial Intelligence" (AI). A term that causes anxiety and fear with some, because of its misleading name and the misunderstanding of what it really is today.
While AI has made significant advancements, it's time to reconsider how we categorize certain technologies, like language models such as ChatGPT. Rather than continuing to label them as "Artificial Intelligence," we should view them as what they truly are: statistical engines. In this article, we explore the reasons behind this shift in perspective.
Understanding Language Models
Language models like ChatGPT have indeed revolutionized various industries, from customer service chatbots to content generation. These models are created through the application of complex statistical techniques to massive datasets. They learn patterns, associations, and probabilities in language, enabling them to generate human-like text based on the input they receive.
