Renewtech expands in Italy with SE.CO. IT distribution acquisition

Renewtech is advancing its goal of becoming Europe's leading supplier of recycled IT by acquiring the Italian company SE.CO. This move follows last year's acquisition of a Dutch networking division and aligns with Renewtech's strategy to enhance local presence across Europe. By integrating SE.CO, Renewtech aims to strengthen its foothold in the Italian market.

Founded over 25 years ago, SE.CO specialises in trading refurbished hardware and providing service and maintenance contracts through resellers across Italy. The longstanding relationships SE.CO has built with its resellers will facilitate a smooth integration with Renewtech. Both companies share similar values and a commitment to delivering high-quality services and products, making this partnership a natural fit.

The acquisition also addresses the growing customer demand for certifications and reporting. With increasing requirements for ISO certifications and CSR-D reporting on used hardware, SE.CO and its customers will benefit from Renewtech's strong sustainability profile and multiple ISO certifications. This partnership underscores Renewtech's dedication to quality and trustworthiness in the market.

Renewtech CEO Bjarne Aarup stated that this partnership “... is a good match for Renewtech and our high ambitions for sustainable IT solutions align very well. It is of immense importance for Renewtech to be close to our many customers and we are happy to expand our local presence in Italy through SE.CO which has the same high ambitions as Renewtech for sustainable IT solutions”.

Similarly, Massimiliano Campese, Managing Director of SE.CO Srl also emphasised on the sustainable notion, saying that “...The demand for refurbished hardware solutions from our customers is increasing as well as their customers’ requirements related to sustainability and CSR-D documentation. Therefore, we have chosen to be a part of Renewtech, as this enables SE.CO. to provide our customers with an even broader product range of refurbished hardware as well as in-depth knowledge for supporting customers with complex configurations.”

Foxway and F9 Distribution join forces for sustainable tech solutions

F9 and Foxway have formed a strategic partnership to enhance sustainable tech distribution. This collaboration leverages F9’s extensive distribution network and Foxway’s expertise in circular tech through its Teqcycle premium product brand, addressing the growing demand for sustainable IT products in the B2B sector. F9, a key player in Finland and the Baltic market, ensures that Teqcycle’s distribution reaches these crucial regions.

The market for refurbished tech devices has faced challenges like inconsistent quality and limited availability. Recognising the potential for growth and the need for quality in the circular economy, F9 Distribution has developed an operating model to tackle these issues. By distributing high-quality renewed devices under the Teqcycle brand, F9 offers businesses and public-sector organisations a viable alternative to new tech products, aligning with their commitment to sustainable practices.

Teqcycle, managed by Foxway, plays a pivotal role in this transformation. Known for its meticulous refurbishment process, Teqcycle products undergo thorough testing, cleaning, and necessary repairs, ensuring they are fully functional and aesthetically restored. Categorised into Premium+ and Premium grades, these devices meet high standards and come with extended warranties, significantly reducing Scope 3 emissions compared to new devices. This partnership sets a new standard in tech distribution, allowing businesses to stay competitive while embracing green IT solutions.

Jarno Juhola, Business Unit Director, F9 Distribution mentioned that “We aim to continuously bring our customers new growth opportunities while promoting important sustainability goals.” and Mika Heikell, Director of Sustainability and Service Operations at the group stated that their objective is to “…offer our resellers solutions that enhance their carbon handprint”.

Similarly, Mathias Egelund, Head of Teqcycle emphasised that this partnership highlights “…our shared commitment to quality and sustainable tech. A collaboration with an esteemed distributor like F9 Distribution not only strengthens the presence of our Teqcycle products in the Nordic and Baltic markets but also underscores our global sustainable tech distribution aspirations”.

Breezy brings retail experience to Moldova

Moldova has become the third country where Breezy has launched its online store, following successful e-commerce platforms in Ukraine and Kazakhstan. This expansion marks a significant step in Breezy’s growth within the Central and Eastern European region, where thousands of devices are sold monthly.

The Breezy online store offers a wide selection of popular models from brands like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and Oppo, with prices starting at just 439 lei. Devices are categorised into four grades based on their condition: A+ (like new), A (excellent), B (good), and C (acceptable). Regardless of the grade, all phones are fully functional and inspected against 55 criteria at Breezy’s high-tech production facility in Europe, which holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001 certifications.

Mykhailo Myronov, General Manager at Breezy Moldova mentioned that “This variety allows customers to choose a phone that fits their needs and budget. The Breezy store makes top-notch technology more accessible to customers in Moldova, offering original equipment of leading global brands at prices up to 60% lower than similar new devices. At the same time, these devices are fully functional and have a warranty of up to one year. We mean a basic warranty that comes at no additional cost”.

Ruslan Tomaschuk, Omnichannel Leader at Breezy, also supported this move, stating that “Launching an online store is a logical step in developing omnichannel sales in each country where Breezy operates” and that “The strong demand for our products confirmed the high potential of the used gadget market in this region and motivated us to expand further”.

Breezy has been operating in Moldova since early 2023, providing a Trade-In service that allows customers to use their devices to pay for purchases at Orange and Moldcell service centres and in Apple’s authorised reseller stores, iSpace. In June, refurbished Breezy phones also became available in Maximum retail stores, further expanding their market presence.
