(Re)Taking the Stage
It’s been 1,050 days since the 61st and final speaker of the GOAL 2019 conference stepped off the stage at the Leela Palace in Chennai, India. In just 25 days, Seattle Mayor?Bruce Harrell?will take the stage at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle to welcome the GOAL 2022 delegation to his hometown. It will be a special moment, 1,075 days in the making.
Though it feels like we’re picking up where we left off, there’s a newness to the GOAL 2022 conference that will make it stand out, especially with the program. Wild-capture fisheries will be incorporated for the first time this year, with data from Urner Barry and the Global Tuna Alliance. Topics such as climate action and ocean health will be featured just as prominently as standbys such as animal health. There will be a lot of fresh faces, too. Of the?48 speakers?confirmed to take the stage – from keynoters?Loni Grinnell Greninger?of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and?Bob Donegan?of Ivar’s Seafood Restaurants to well known figures like?Ray Hilborn?of the University of Washington – about two-thirds will be speaking at GOAL for the first time.
But the program is just part of what makes?GOAL?special. The connections made at receptions, lunches and?field trips?are equally important and something that’s impossible to replicate in a virtual environment. So join us as we usher in a new era of?GOAL. Time is running out, so?register now?before the clock strikes midnight this Friday and registration rates go up significantly.
