Retail Notes From September

Back once more and I have to say that I am late with this edition of my retail newsletter. It is just that I have been trying to get more information on what to write about. Not only that but to see what's been happening within the retail industry and I must say that a lot has happened during the month of September and I will write them here for this month. A lot has been going on in retail within North America.

For one thing I was going to watch a video on PBS on retail theft but never got the chance to do it and I will get to it because it talked about an ongoing problem that has been occurring for years. Retail theft is a problem not only within its company where employees steal certain things like money and items but mainly from customers and that is what I am going to talk about right now since it is becoming a real problem.

I will watch the video later but I have seen most of the news on it. More customers are looting the stores and stealing a lot of items which has caused a lot of stores to close down or to shut their doors. Target, Lowes and others have been real targets for thieves especially in the western part of the USA where most of these crimes have been occurring. Now I don't know if this is happening here in Canada but in the USA it has become a crisis in a way.

Most retail businesses have had to close due to monetary loss from these robberies and vandalism. Now I don't know if they will open their doors again but for management, security personnel, and employees it has to be traumatizing and frustrating but most of all it has to be equally frustrating for their customers since they will have to raise their prices making it harder for most customers to shop if they open their doors after rebuilding.

With inflation in North America, this problem will only get worse before it even gets better affecting not only thousands of jobs but also the economy too. I am thinking that more security needs to be put in place but that won't solve this crisis long term. I will have to watch the video in order to get any real insight as to what the real solutions are because I am still just learning and there has to be some legal aspects to this crisis.
