ALDI SüD launches click and collect pilot in Germany.

Shoppers will be able to collect orders placed via the MeinAldi website. Around 1,300 SKUs (circa 75% of the total assortment) are available for purchase and will be stored in lockers equipped with fridges for fresh goods. The service is being tested at three stores in Mülheim and Düsseldorf, close to the discounter’s head office. Should it prove successful, it may be rolled out to other locations across the?country.


Mercadona invests €150m to lower the price of 1,000 products.?

The Spanish market leader keeps investing in price, as the market continues to be price sensitive and shoppers are seeking low prices without compromising on quality. Since February 2024, Mercadona has reduced the price on 1,000 products, targeting food essentials such as fish, bread, pasta and olive oil. ?


JD.com’s Ochama introduces one-hour delivery in Amsterdam

They are covering categories such as fresh and frozen foods, beverages and personal care items. This development will further?increase competition in Europe’s second largest market for online grocery retail. Orders placed between 9am and 11pm will receive their packages within an hour.


家乐福 ?to supply more petrol stations in?France.?

The retailer will expand its presence in the channel with the addition of 117 petrol stations. Carrefour won the bid for 壳牌 and TotalEnergies , which will see it increase its presence to over 350 service stations in total in France by the end of 2024.?


Albert Heijn delivers three Generative AI app-driven innovations.?

This includes:

  • Scan your recipe: users take a photo of a recipe and can translate the ingredients into Albert Heijn’s products, customise the serving size and add items directly to their basket
  • Scan & Cook: users can take a photo of ingredients at home, customise the serving size and add items directly to their basket
  • Scan & Keep: users can take a photo of items or load their previously purchased products to gain advice on how to store items to prolong shelf-life and reduce waste
