Retail Holiday Selling Tips
The holidays can move fast in airports. The gift giving moments are generally within the week leading up to Christmas. When it comes to Retail and News & Gifts stores, it is time to fully capitalize on unique items, quick premade or curated gifts. Other than employees of the airport, travelers generally are looking for unique gifts that airports are full of. Example, News and Gifts shops have t-shits, cups, key chains, hats and more all with city or team logos. Those items are no so easily found in streetside stores. Specialty retail stores need to focus on premade gifts, and curate items that makes quick gifts. Put together shirt and hat combos, confections with stuff animals, or headphones with books. Have boxes and ribbon on hand to help them create gifts. Keep in mind, airports don't need to worry about many competitors, and procrastinators as the plane leaves with or without them. With that said, how you position your products, and how your staff talks about gifts will make this short season very profitable.
