"Resuscitated from living dead"?

"Resuscitated from living dead"

After becoming aware of the possibility that I suffer from depression and anxiety, I decided to book myself into Vista Psychiatric Wellness Centre in April of 2022.

When everyone had negative feelings about me going to the center, I must admit that I was scared and had doubts on whether to go to the wellness centre or not, because of the stigma around mental health illness, Iike depression and anxiety. When I go to the centre it means I have given up on myself and my family. But deep down I knew that I had to seek help…I am aware that I am “living dead” so I had to be resuscitated from this silent killer. I prayed about it and asked God to go to the centre before me, even though I am getting help from medical professionals, I asked Him to ensure that my psychiatrist and psychologist counsel and speak to me through Him. I also asked God to send me one of His angels to meet me at the centre. An individual with whom I will embark on this next chapter of my life – the journey of healing, restoration and claim the original blueprint of my life...and God answered all my prayers.

Was this, therefore, the best decision I'd ever made for my life?

Oh, yes, it is the best thing I have ever done for myself, as well as the best birthday present for my 40th birthday. I am a completely different woman I was in April 2022. The counselling reminded me that before I can begin to fulfil any other role of being a daughter, sister, cousin, mother, and employee, I must first meet the needs of the human, Takatso to give my best to others. ?Mental Health Awareness Month is celebrated in October.

I am proud to say that by remaining true to myself rather than remaining silent and suffering alone, I was able to take the first step toward combating the silent killer.

Talking, speaking out, is the cure for mental health problems. Seek assistance from the appropriate people and places.

?Silence is not golden if it indicates that you are "living dead."
