Resume: A gateway to interview round

We often hear the first impression is the last and it holds when applying for a job. In this case, the candidate is not the person who impressed the recruiter but it's a well-informed and structured resume. It is the matching job profile doozy resume that attracts the recruiter and increases the candidate's chances of getting into the next round. 1. Put important first -?

It is humane behaviour that good elements attract faster than bad. In the same, a candidate should always put all the good and important elements like skills, work experience, and education at the beginning of a resume. A recruiter barely gets five seconds for a resume, putting yourself out on a resume in those five seconds is worth a deal.

2. Keep it direct -

It is subjective how long a resume should be, some say one some say no longer than two pages. If the candidate is a student the resume is one or a maximum of two pages comparing it with a candidate with experience of 5-10 years which can go three or sometimes four pages. Well, it is always about concise and to-the-point information and not about the pages. Being direct is the key to attract readers' attention.

3. Active language -?

Replace passive words with active ones. Active voice helps your resume sound more impactful and less wordy. Let us understand with an example- "The department budget was increased because of me by 20%".The sentence sounds too long rather than could shorten and write “I increased the department budget by 20%"

4. Look for keywords in the Job profile -

The candidate should look for keywords before creating a resume. The job profile gives ample information about the company and its vision. Most companies look for proficiency in reading, writing and speaking. These could be keywords to mention in a resume.?

5. Attractive fonts and layout -

As a recruiter has a few seconds to go through a resume it is the duty of a candidate to serve the best. You should make sure to use readable fonts and compile a resume with a modest layout. Avoid using colourful fonts and layouts to keep it simple but attractive.?

Following the above points will create an impact on the recruiter and it will help the resume to stand out from the bunch of all resumes during the selection process.
