Resty bash — fetching business data with bash. How I made my first $40 freelancing.

It is?summer and I have a few more draft posts I never posted, so I will continue to try and post them, here is one of them.

Over 10 years ago, I had joined a company they decided to write all their tests in bash, I wasnt comfortable with linux then :-). A year later, I had a 1–1 with my manager and his feedback was very terrible and specifically how my bash scripting was a disgrace to engineering and he ended up with a comment like “I do not think in your life, you will be able to learn anything about REST API and SOAP API”. Few months later I left the company I freelanced on ODESK ( now upwork ), it was very tough to get the first client and guess what, the first task was to write bash script to fetch and parse some business data from an API.
