Restore the Dignity and Rights of Australians Wrongly detained Overseas
Dr Kay Danes, OAM
Author | Human Rights Advocate | Humanitarian -- Open for collaborative opportunities.
Human Rights Advocacy holds a deeply personal significance for me, particularly given my firsthand experience as a survivor of torture and arbitrary detention. These harrowing experiences have not only shaped my perspective but have also fueled my passion for championing human rights causes. My commitment to this field stems from a profound understanding of the devastating impact that human rights violations can have on individuals and communities.
In recognition of my expertise and personal insights, I have been extended an invitation by the Australian Senate Committee, to provide testimony at an upcoming public hearing.
This important event, focusing on the "Wrongful and Arbitrary detention of Australian citizens overseas," is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 26 September 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
The opportunity to contribute my voice and experiences to this crucial discussion underscores the value of lived experiences in shaping policy and raising awareness about human rights issues on a national and international scale.
