Each one of us desires a peaceful mind and calm heart as it provides healing to the soul. There are various means to achieve this predominantly associated with meditation and yoga. And there are many other ways of doing this successfully. Like listening to soft music as you plug your earphones and go out for a walk alone, either on a quiet beach or a meadow.
Even I love slow car rides in the forest areas where you can select your slow speed and go on a long drive across lines of trees and mountains and open the window glasses so that you can enjoy the natural cool breeze instead of the air conditioning of the car.
Another thing gives me a high is interacting with people and mostly new people who bring a lot of value to your expansion of mind's avenues. I love to go around and meet new people make new friends, share and talk about their experience of life, talk about your interests. Because later you will realise that everyone is going through one or the other problem and may be your issues are trivial. And if you are not comfortable talking to them, you don’t have to worry about meeting him/her the next day.
Reading a book on a swing is a favourite hobby of mine. This helps me a lot to unwind. Sometimes reading books of your favourite genre helps. I like more of philosophy and psychology books as I have a minimal knowledge of the same. So while reading I come across millions of doubts and while clarifying them I really forget why I was disturbed for.
Enjoying soul food at will is my peace process as I slowly consume fresh fruits and vegetables and soothing smoothies down my throat it gives me a peaceful existence. Eating spicy or pungent foods makes your mind disturbed instead I prefer soothing alkaline foods which don't cause any acidity in stomach .
Getting good quality sleep also helps us to unwind and relax our mind completely. I am fond of listening to soft music while going to bed on my ear phones. In my childhood I remember I used to have a small transistor radio listening to Vividh Bharti's 'Bela ke Fool' Programme which played beautiful melodious old movie songs till 11 pm and I used to fall asleep many times with the radio on my chest. you naturally wake up happily if you listen to nice songs while sleeping and also you get lovely pleasant dreams too.
But for God's sake don't ever into drinking/smoking/drugs habit to calm your mind because alcohol or drugs never help you when you want an escape from reality. This may lead to bigger problems. Addiction to these just constrains your brain to be stable in certain direction. Once you get into drugs and dwell deep into your problems, trust me, it will difficult coming out from there. Therefore never have a drink when you are under stress as it will not reduce your stress at all. Enjoy the drink when you are celebrating so that your mood remains elevated and happy.
Don’t go crying over it to family of friends as you might disturb them in their peace. Though you have no bad intention but people think you are ranting to them unnecessarily. If you have a close buddy it is a better idea to share one to one only and not remain alone in any room if you want peace to trickle down your mind. I prefer to put on dim lights, put on soft music and close my eyes on an arm chair and just relax my feet up the stool and it gives me nirvana feeling. Suit your own methods of calming your heart and finding peace of mind. Cheers!
