It is with deep sorrow that I pay tribute to my dear friend and school leader, Leigh-Ann Mouton. Her sudden passing has left us in disbelief, and it is difficult to express the profound sadness we all feel. My intention is to honour her remarkable life and the significant impact she had on each of us, especially on me.
Leigh-Ann was more than just a colleague; she was a true inspiration, a passionate advocate for education, and a compassionate leader who touched the lives of countless students and educators. Her vision for a progressive education system was not merely a professional goal; it was her personal mission.
Her love for education was matched only by her devotion to her family and her zest for life. Leigh-Ann found joy in exploring new places and cherishing moments with her loved ones. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will continue to thrive in the many lives she influenced.
I received the heartbreaking news of her passing yesterday, and I am still grappling with the shock. I first met Leigh-Ann many years ago at The Holy Cross Sister's Education Conference in George. We were both new principals, and she quickly became a trusted advisor and friend. Our bond was forged through our shared commitment to access and equity in education. Her dedication to Holy Cross Bellville and the surrounding community was steadfast. Beneath her courageous exterior was a woman who genuinely cared for others—a loyal friend, daughter, sister, mother, guardian, and protector.
Leigh-Ann had her quirks, such as her support for the All Blacks, but she more than made up for it with her unwavering loyalty to Liverpool Football Club. We were kindred spirits, forever grateful to Jürgen Klopp for transforming us from sceptics into believers.
Our shared faith comforts me at this time knowing that “You’ll Never Walk Alone”

As I reflect on Leigh-Ann today, I celebrate the incredible impact she had on my life and the lives of so many others. Her dedication to education, her love for her family, and her unwavering faith will continue to inspire us all.
