Responsible Digital Citizenship
Many of us reading this have either had a review written about them or perhaps written one. We are all still finding our way, there is no agreed etiquette, rules or regulations. Nevertheless it is a great responsibility to post in a civil positive manner. I am not completely sure why people write them, some may feel they are doing a civic duty, some angry, some want to be heard, some wish to help others, some feeling hurt by the agency so they want them to experience the pain they did. Less then 1% of those I sought out, choose to engage in a discussion. I do know if all of them had a boss who had an issue they would prefer the boss talking to them privately as opposed to sending out an announcement with the fault to the entire office. I guess I would understand if the post was made after the reviewer tried to reach out privately first and then were quickly dismissed by the business. I, for one, was never contacted privately. I have been doing significant volunteer work for years and when the post suggests that I have actually fallen below the standard of care an investigation must take place before I am reinstated to the trip. I have always been cleared and the post unfounded but sometimes too late. On two occasions, the post occurred just before the trip, so I was left out. Most of my work is with children so the reviewer got not just me but those I could not serve. Such a tragedy. This is just one example where when one does not take the additional time to seek out the owner in a civil discussion, there are deeper irresponsible consequences. My purpose is to bring to light how a hasty nonchalant post can of course harm the owner, his workers, other patrons but those on the perimeter such as these children. Most of these sites have a platform that is in conflict how we all tell our kids to treat others. Somewhere upon growing up, we forgot what our parents taught. Please spread the word and lets have responsible posting with civil positive dialogue for all and for the future.Thank you for your time
