Responsible Citizenship

As South Africans, we are quick to expect of everyone else to be accountable and accept responsibility, however, when there is a responsibility placed on us, as citizens of this country, we ignore it because there is no benefit to us.
Some people simply don't care and others find legal loopholes not to comply. A great example of this is the Minister of Communications issuing a notice, compelling all .co.za websites to provide access to the COVID-19 website. A simple banner, yet some of the leaders, big corporations and other institutions have simply not complied, or others have said that our domain does not end in .co.za so we do not have to comply.
Further to this, some companies have managed to build up huge reserves and made significant profits, are still able to trade with limitations but is now applying for government funding because the opportunity presented itself, and they then still complain about the taxes that they need to pay, instead of the funding reaching companies it really should.
So many have criticised the government about the changes in the income tax act, forcing people that are employed in a foreign country to pay tax, yet they are now expecting the government to fetch them from these countries because they are South African Citizens.
There are many law-abiding citizens, being a small business or an individual, who pays their taxes as and when required, complies with regulations when they are presented and does their best to improve the country they call home. To these guys, thank you for being a responsible citizen, for being there when South Africa needed you most.
To the Financial Planners, that help you to save, and build on those dreams, encouraging you in tough times, to invest in South Africa, the country of Hope, THANK YOU! You are as much of an unsung hero as all our nurses, doctors, laboratory assistants, pathologists, farmers, truck drivers, retailers and all other essential services personnel.
I appreciate the responsibility you have taken on yourself to make South Africa great again.
